Region Seasonal Reserve Constraint Active specifies when a seasonal capacity reserve is active. This multi-banded property works in conjunction with the capacity reserve input properties to model multiple seasonal peak loads in a single Expansion Period in the LT, such as a summer and winter peak with annual builds.
Define seasons by setting the value to Yes and setting the time period for which the season is active either with dates or with time slices. Use one band for each season. For the capacity reserve input use the same number of bands to define the limit in each season. It is important to define seasons that cover the entire year.
It is also essential to properly define the LT Plan Chronology to ensure that each period is covered by a single season. For example, the one season is defined as March- September, and the second season is defined as the remaining months. Selecting N Partial blocks/Fixed blocks/Sampled days per year will likely yield unexpected results because hours from multiple seasons could be mapped to a period.
