The use of Area Demand Number in the Area table is different than the Area Number . Default Release databases will typically have identical Area Numbers\Names and Area Demand Numbers assigned.
While the Area Number is used to define the Area identification, the Area Demand Number can be different from the Area Number and can even be the Area Name.
The Area Demand Number column assigns a demand dataset for each Area in the database. The assignment of the demand dataset in this column selects the respective data from the Demand Hourly table, Demand Monthly table and Demand Escalation table.
The columns with numbered/named column headings in the Demand Hourly, Demand Monthly and Demand Escalation tables represent the demand sets (Area Demand Number). Optionally, there can be more columns with numbered/named column headings than there are Areas in the same database in order to allow users to select alternate columns (demand sets) of Demand Hourly, Demand Monthly and Demand Escalation for use during normal dispatch (in the Area table) or to support use of the Portfolio logic (Portfolio tables).
NOTE: The demand tables are Demand Hourly (hourly demand for the area number), Demand Monthly (monthly and annual average demand for the demand area number), and Demand Escalation (references to the "Time Series Annual" table which contains demand escalation expressed in percent for each demand area number).
