Max Up Time
Column Type = Text

The Max Up Time column allows users to specify the maximum number of hours a resource can remain online once committed. This value is ignored if Non-Cycling is zero.

 NOTES:

  1. The Max Up Time feature can only be used with commitment optimization.
  2. If the Max Up Time is set to zero or left NULL/blank, Aurora will ignore this constraint.
  3. If a FUEL reference is provided, the corresponding value from the Fuels Table will be applied.
  4. This column only accepts values in hours or a FUEL reference. Time series references are not allowed.
  5. If a resource has only a Max Up Time limit without a Min Up Time limit, setting it to 1 hour is recommended.
  6. If the Max Up Time value is smaller than the sampling interval duration, Aurora assumes that the resource satisfies the Max Up Time limit during the non-sampled hours and hence may decommit on every sampled hour.

Example:

Max up time = 12 hrs,
Sampling resolution on dispatch days and look ahead periods = Noon hour, Every Day, Every Week
Output expected:

The resource is assumed to be committed during 1st Hr, running until the 12th Hr (1st Hr to 12th Hr are the non-sampled hours). It then decommits during the 13th Hr (the Noon hour). Thus, the resource decommits at every Noon Hr.

Hence, it is recommended to use a higher resolution sampling interval (say every 8th hour on dispatch days or look-ahead periods for a Max Up Time of 12 hrs) so that the sampling interval duration is smaller than the Max Up Time.
