Column Type = Text
The Type column defines the type of heat rate to be input and is entered in the default units of Btu/kWh. The options are:
Incremental - Represents the average incremental heat rate over the segment. This is not the instantaneous incremental heat rate as found by derivative of I/O curve. The incremental heat rate used to calculate the incremental cost for each segment.
Average - Represents the average unit heat rate up to full output of the segment. Average heat rates are converted to incremental to calculate the incremental cost for each segment.
IO Curve & IO Coefficients - A polynomial can be specified to represent the input/output curve for the unit. The polynomial coefficients should be specified on one record of this table using the Coefficient columns C0, C1, C2, etc. with Type = IO Coefficients. The segment sizes must also be defined on lines with Type = IO Curve and the same ID as the row defining the coefficients. The I/O Curve is converted to average and incremental heat rates for each segment defined in order to calculate the costs for each segment. The assumed units for the polynomial represented by the coefficients are the same as the default heat rate (which is usually Btu/kWh). Hence, the I/O curve is in the format of H(x) / x, where H(x) = fuel usage, and x = output level. Therefore, if someone has coefficients derived under the assumption of different units (e.g., mmBtu / MWh), but hasn’t changed the default heat rate heat content units in Aurora (in the unit conversion table; again, Btu/kWh is the default), then they need to multiply those coefficients by the appropriate scalar (e.g., 1,000) to get the right values out of Aurora. Note that the Heat Rate column of this table will not be used for rows where Type = IO Curve or IO Coefficients.
NOTE: All segments belonging to a single heat rate ID set must be of the same type. This field will auto-populate for all of the same IDs once one record is complete.
NOTE: UBB segments must be defined as Incremental.
