Aurora allows an unlimited number of resource segments to be defined in the Heat Rate Definitions table. Each segment can have a unique heat rate and individual bid behavior.
NOTE: When opened, this table shows a filtered view based on the areas, zones, or pools running in the study system. The User Default Quick View overrides Automatic Filters, or you can turn them off using the Project Options in the Options window.
Once segments are defined in the table, they can be assigned using a hrd_ reference in the Heat Rate column of the Resources or New Resources tables. Heat Rates for each segment can be defined as incremental, average, or as I/O curves.
Any segment specified as Segment Type = Min must have the lowest cumulative capacity of the segments for that particular ID. To allow the minimum segment of a resource to be greater than other defined segments, use Type = Average heat rates, specify the Min segment in the Resources table, and leave the Heat Rate at Minimum blank in the Resources table.
NOTE: If a resource references this table, the UBB-related columns in the Resources or New Resources tables will be ignored for that resource. All Heat Rate and UBB information should then be entered in this table.
NOTE: Heat rate curves are not supported for hydro (WAT) or pumped storage (PS) fuel types. Specify heat rates for pumped storage in the Resource table.
