This optional column is used to chronologically limit the MW amount of resources dropped each year within the pool. It works in the same manner as the system setting Annual MW retirement limit. (The definition of new resource options is found in the New Resource table.) If the column is blank then no limits will be applied. If an invalid time series annual reference is entered, then a limit of 0 will be applied.
The retirement limit for a given year governs how much capacity can leave the system at the end of the last day of the previous year. For example, if the retirement limit is input in the time series annual table as 500 MW for the year 2020, then at most 500 MW will be able to have a retirement date of 12/31/2019 (retirement dates are always the last day of the year), meaning that the units would leave the system at the end of the day on 12/31/2019. In other words, the retirement limit for a given year governs how much capacity can go offline on January 1st of that year.
NOTE: Inputs may be specified as an annual vector via a reference to an ID in the Time Series Annual table. See Entering a Time Series for more information.
