Exclude Spin From NonSpin Reqt Column

This optional column is used to determine whether spinning resources are included in the NonSpin Requirement.
When pools are not used (Operating Pools table not checked In Study), pool Reserve Sharing is set to False, or Pool Commit is set to False, the model will only assign non-spin to the individual zones and will seek to meet the non-spin requirement only with resources that do not meet the “spinning” definition.
For example, suppose a zone had two resources and a 40 MW non-spin requirement. Assume that resource A was dispatching at 50 MW out of 80 MW capability and resource B was dispatching 0 MW out of 25 MW capability.

When this column is False, the model will assign 30 MW of spin to resource A and the remaining 10 MW of non-spin to resource B.

When this column is True, the model will assign 25 MW of non-spin to resource B and not use any of A (because it is “spinning”). In this example the non-spin requirement would be missed by 15 MW.
When pools are used (Operating Pools table is checked In Study) with Reserve Sharing set to True and Pool Commit set to True, the model will seek to meet the spin requirement with the available spin capability in the pool and then it will seek to meet the non-spin requirement with the non-spin designated resources. Again, when this column is True the model will not let the resources that are considered as “spinning” to help meet the non-spin requirement.
