Non Cycling Column
Column Type = Text

The Non Cycling column allows the user to specify a market premium required to commit the resource for operation. This premium is input as a percent over the cost of the resource. The commitment period is specified by the Min Up Time. Once the unit is committed it remains running, dispatching at least the minimum capacity specified for the resource for the Min Up Time period. However, the Min Up Time and Min Down Time are ignored if Non Cycling is zero.

A negative non-cycling parameter allows a unit to expect a loss over the operating cycle and still commit. This can be used to make sure discounted units that cannot cycle still operate.

A non-cycling value of 0.000001 or less will be treated as zero and the unit will be treated as a cycling unit. If the value is less than 0.000000001 (1e-9) the Minimum Capacity will be set to zero. If the unit has a Ramp Rate, it is possible for the unit to ramp below the Minimum Capacity.

NOTE: If the FUEL reference is specified for this variable the value in the Fuel Table will be applied.

NOTE: Specify inputs for any time period (annually, monthly, weekly, hourly, or sub-hourly). For information on specifying a variable's time series, see Entering a Time Series.

Time series are not compatible with the Commitment Optimization method.
