This setting applies to both pumped storage Generator and Battery classes. It controls whether or not the generation/discharge and pump/charge modes are allowed to occur simultaneously in any one interval. By default this is allowed (Pump and Generate is 'True') but you can prevent this from occurring by setting this to 'False'. When you do this the formulation is modified with integer variables to prevent simultaneous generating/discharging and pumping/charging.
The Production setting Unit Commitment Optimality controls whether or not these integer constraints are obeyed. This setting must be 'Integer Optimal' for the integer restrictions to apply. Simultaneous pumping and generating may occur otherwise.
This Production setting can be overriden for individual Generator and Battery objects via:
