NOTE: This column can also be called Storage Shaping Factor.
The Hourly Shaping Factor column allows the user to specify the shaping factor used to control the maximum amount of load shaping and shifting performed by a storage or DSM/Conservation unit. The numeric value input should range from 0 to 1. The factor is applied to both the unit generation and recharge capacity. Specify values less than 1 to spread the daily generation/charge schedule out over a greater number of hours.
For storage units, the shaping logic for hydro energy resources and storage resources can be bypassed by using a weekly vector as a time-series input. Storage shaping and hydro energy shaping can be forced by manual input when an input pointer resolves to a weekly vector, for either the

OR

The hourly value from the weekly vector is multiplicatively applied to unit capacity. (Positive values are associated with generation and negative values are associated with storage. However, negative values do not apply to hydro resources, only storage resources.) The single weekly pattern is applied for the entire month.
NOTE: Inputs can be specified for any time period (annual, monthly, weekly, hourly or sub-hourly). For information on how to specify a time series for a variable, see Entering a Time Series.
For more information, see Storage Resources.
