Emissions Logic
Emissions logic can be summarized as follows:

If emission costs are used in the dispatch, resource variable costs are adjusted according to the following formula:
Unit dispatch cost adder for each applicable emission ($/MWh) = ((R - L) * HR * P / 2x106) - B*P
Where:
R = Unit emissions rate in lb/mmBtu for the current fuel
L = Emission limit applicable to the unit in lb/mmBtu
HR = Unit heat rate in Btu/kWh
P = Emission price applicable to the unit in $/Ton
B = Intensity baseline in Ton/MWh -
The hourly quantity of an emission type produced by a unit is calculated by:
Hourly emission quantity (tons) = Output * HR * R / 2000
Where:
Output = Hourly output in MWh
HR = Unit average heat rate for the hour in Btu/kWh
R = Unit emission rate in lb/mmBtu -
The hourly cost for a quantity of emissions produced by a unit is calculated by:
Hourly emission cost ($) = Output * ((HR * (R – L) * P / 2x106) – B*P)
Where:
Output = Hourly output in MWh
HR = Unit average heat rate for the hour in Btu/kWh
R = Unit emission rate in lb/mmBtu
L = Emission limit applicable to the unit in lb/mmBtu
P = Emission price applicable to the unit in $/Ton
B = Intensity baseline in Ton/MWh
Treatment of emissions is controlled using the input tables: Emission Price and Emission Rate. Emission cost can be included in dispatch or value by using the Include Emissions Costs in Dispatch and Include Emissions in Value Reporting switches in the Resource folder of Simulation Options - Reporting Parameters.
NOTE: Emission data will always be displayed; these options only determine if the costs will be applied in the model.
