Emissions Overview

Emissions Input Data Structure

Emission cost can be included in dispatch or value by using the Include emissions costs in dispatch (Dispatch and Demand) and Include emissions in value reporting (Resource) switches in Simulation Options. Treatment of emissions is controlled using the following tables and columns:

• Emission Price Table
  Allows emissions prices and limits to be entered and applied to as many resources or zones as desired.

• Emission Rate Table
  Allows emissions types and rates to be entered and applied to as many resources as desired.

• Resources Table
  Unit-specific emission rates can be applied to each resource in the Resources table.  An additional column for the Emission Rate ID must be added to the Resources table.  A column for Emission Price ID can also be added, which allows an emission price and limit to be listed by resource.  This method also requires that the Emission Rate and Emission Price tables be populated.  To specify emission rate information for a secondary fuel the Second Emission Rate ID column would be used.

• Zone Definition Table
  Allows emission prices and limits to be entered and applied to as many resources or zones as desired.

 

Emissions Output Data Structure

There are three output tables that relate to emissions; ResourceEmissions, ResourceGroupEmissions, and ZoneEmissions.  The column Total_Emission_Cost also appears in the Resource output table.  

 NOTE: The ResourceEmissions output table is dependent upon resource output defined in the Table Selection form of Simulation Options and will only output emissions data for the resources selected for reporting. Thus, if nothing is checked for resource reporting, no resource emissions data will be output. See Output Reporting Options for more information.
