The Operating Pools table is an optional input table. When included in a study, it contains the information defining the characteristics of operating pools. It can be used to enable additional operational logic options in the model, or to provide additional reporting information for an aggregated set of zones. It can also be used to define and apply an operating reserve demand curve (ORDC).
NOTE: When opened, this table will automatically show a filtered view based on the areas, zones, or pools which are running in the study system. Automatic Filters are overridden by the User Default Quick View, or can be turned off using the Project Options in the Options window.
To ensure pool-based commitment for a given pool, the Pool Commit column must be set to TRUE for that pool. Refer to Commitment Logic for more information on the different commitment methodologies.
NOTE: The use of operating pool logic in a study is determined solely by whether a table of type Operating Pools is checked for study use on the Input Tables Window. There is no separate switch for this option. Use of this table in a study also requires a column in the Zone Definition table named Pool ID. That column will hold pointers to the Pool ID column in the Operating Pools table.
NOTE: When using the dynamic price commitment method, the reliability-based pool commitment algorithm will be used for all resources in the system for the first day of the study.
