Minimum Energy Factor Column
The optional Minimum Energy Factor column, when populated, is used instead of the default Minimum entry. Allowable input values range from 0 to 1. This value in this column works so that the minimum hydro energy for a given hour will dynamically change throughout the study as the total hydro energy in the hydro set changes. Here’s how the logic works:
- For each day, the total average hydro energy available to the hydro set for the current Mon-Sun week is calculated.

- If the current week does not lie entirely within the current month, then either the first seven days or the last seven days of the month are used, as applicable.
- This average energy value is then multiplied by the input Minimum Energy Factor to get the minimum MW value for the hydro set for the current day.
- As the hourly shaping logic is done for the day, it ensures that the calculated minimum MW value is not violated, if possible.
This works as expected in conjunction with Risk and/or Daily Change adjustments on the hydro capability.
NOTE: When Turn on debugging level 1 messages is selected, the minimum values calculated will be reported in the StudyLog output table for each hydro set.
