Area Demand Number Column
Column Type = Text

Using the Area Demand Number column of the Area table differs from the Area Number. While the Area Number identifies the Area, the Area Demand Number column assigns a demand dataset for each Area in the database. The assignment of the demand dataset in this column selects the respective data from the Demand Hourly table, Demand Monthly table and Demand Escalation table.

Default Release databases will typically have identical Area Numbers or Names and Area Demand Numbers assigned. The Area Demand Number can be different than the Area Number and can even be an Area Name. The columns with numbered/named column headings in the Demand Hourly, Demand Monthly, and Demand Escalation tables represent the demand sets (Area Demand Number).

Optionally, there can be more columns with numbered or named column headings than there are Areas in the same database. You can select alternate columns (demand sets) of Demand Hourly, Demand Monthly, and Demand Escalation to use during normal dispatch (in the Area table) or to support the use of the Portfolio logic (Portfolio tables).

NOTE: The demand tables are Demand Hourly (hourly demand for the area number), Demand Monthly (monthly and annual average demand for the demand area number), and Demand Escalation (references to the "Time Series Annual" table which contains demand escalation expressed in percent for each demand area number).
