The Initial Online Hours column is used to specify how long a commitment unit has been online or offline.
NOTE: This is only used in the commitment optimization logic.
A positive integer indicates that the unit has been online for that many hours at the first dispatch hour of the current study. For example, if a unit with a Min Up Time of 16 hours had a value of 8 in this column, then the model will commit the unit during the first hour of the study and assume that it must stay online for at least the next 8 hours.
A negative number indicates that the unit has been offline for that many hours at the first dispatch hour of the current study. In this case, if the unit had a Min Down Time of 12 hours and the value in this column was -10, the model would not be allowed to commit the unit during the first two hours of the simulation until the Min Down Time of 12 was reached.
An entry of NULL or zero allows the model full freedom to either commit the unit or not commit the unit at the start of the study.
NOTE: If the FUEL reference is specified for this variable the value in the Fuel Table will be applied.
NOTE: Inputs can be specified for any time period (annual, monthly, weekly, hourly or sub-hourly). For information on how to specify a time series for a variable, see Entering a Time Series.
When using time series references, the value will only be resolved and used for the first dispatch hour of the first dispatch day of the study.
