The Hydro Monthly table contains data that determines the annual and monthly energy produced by hydro resources in Aurora. The data in this table applies to annual and monthly energy levels only. Data to control how hydro projects shape generation on an hourly basis is an important counterpart to the hydro energy data and is contained in the Hydro Vectors input table.
NOTE: When opened, this table shows a filtered view based on the areas, zones, or pools running in the study system. The User Default Quick View overrides Automatic Filters, or you can turn them off using the Project Options in the Options window.
Each Name in this table represents the ID of a Hydro Set. These Hydro Set IDs will need to match with a corresponding set in the Hydro Vectors table. The IDs do not need to be Areas; they can be descriptive names if desired (e.g., Churchill Falls). (Note that most databases do not support special characters. Names are required to be alpha or numeric characters and/or underscores.)
All hydro units in the Resources Table must point to one of the Hydro Set IDs. Typically, many or all hydro units in an area will be defined to use the same hydro set. This provides the ability to easily produce a generation pattern that is representative for all hydro resources in an area or zone, without having to have detailed information on generation patterns for each individual project. It is also straightforward to create a unique hydro set for a particular project or small set of projects where more differentiation on specific unit generation patterns is needed.
The values entered in this table for each hydro set consist of monthly factors for months 1 through 12, and an annual factor specified for month 13. If the monthly factors average 1, and there is no forced outage or maintenance on the hydro units, the annual factor will represent the annual capacity factor. In each month of an hourly study, the average energy that a hydro project will produce will be equal to:
(Unit Capacity) (1-ForcedOutageRate) (1-MaintenanceRate) (Annual factor) (Monthly factor).
The total energy produced in MWh will be this value times the number of hours in the month. This assumes capacity, forced outage, and maintenance rate is constant for the month. A further adjustment would need to be made for periodic maintenance if scheduled.
As mentioned above, how this energy is shaped hourly is controlled by inputs in the Hydro Vectors table.

NOTE: Any Fuel Type starting with "Wat" (case insensitive) will cause a resource referenced to that fuel to be treated as a hydro resource.
